Tottenham Hotspur forward Dejan Kulusevski missed the loss against Aston Villa due to a slight muscle injury

According to Football London, Dejan Kulusevski missed Tottenham Hotspur’s loss against Aston Villa due to a slight muscle injury with more details to be released once the scan is done.

The loss against Aston Villa marked a very disappointing return to the Premier League, after a draw against Brentford in the previous game.

The Swede forward has been a revelation since his move from Juventus and was sorely missed after the loss, which saw us crash out of the top four for the first time this season.

Kulusevski with Harry Kane and Heung Min-Son has formed a very formidable attack and nobody else is able to replicate the way the Swede operates from the right.

Since his move from Italy, he has made 33 appearances and has contributed to 6 goals and 13 assists, which is pretty impressive considering the switch to the Premier League takes time for adjustment.

The loss against Aston Villa must have left Antonio Conte fuming with the manner in which Aston Villa took the game by the scruff of its neck and were the deserved winners. Add to that, the calamitous errors made by our own players, which has become the norm these days, is something that needs to be looked at seriously.

Kulusevski’s absence adds to our worries – not just for the game right now, but for the ones that follow. His impact on the pitch is visible – the right flank becomes a point of great threat for us whenever he is playing there.

One can recall his return to action from an injury earlier this season in our defeat against Liverpool, where he was introduced as a substitute and instantly assisted a goal to start a potential comeback.

In his absence, hopefully Bryan Gil and Lucas Moura can step up to the plate and make their presence felt at the club. The ideal situation would, however, be that Kulusevski is fit and back himself soon.

The current situation is not looking good for us and more than the results, it has been the manner in which we are approaching games and it needs to be looked at urgently, with the next fixture against Crystal Palace coming up soon on January 5th.
