West Ham United have a deal to sign Alphonse Areola in place and it will all be done and announced by Monday.

That’s according to a report from Claret and Hugh who claim that the Frenchman is due to be announced as a West Ham player on a permanent basis in a couple of days.

Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg claimed earlier this week that a deal was close to bring the 29-year-old to the London Stadium on a permanent deal.

And now we have confirmation from high-level insiders C&H.

STRANGEST Contracts In Football | Anti-Arsenal And Nightclub Clause?!

It is alleged that the Hammers are set to pay around £10.5 million for the French World Cup winner (Jacob Steinberg).

Areola spent last season on loan with West Ham from PSG.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper currently earns around £120k-a-week but it remains to be seen whether the Hammers pay him anywhere near that amount (The Daily Mail).

David Moyes utilised the Frenchman primarily as our cup keeper last season. He played second fiddle to Lukasz Fabianski in the Premier League but it’s clear to see that he is being primed to take over from the Pole as West Ham’s number one goalkeeper next term.

Areola is a top-class goalkeeper and he can be our number one stopper for the next seven or eight years.

And now it seems as though it will just be a matter of time before a deal is done…

West Ham to sign Areola

Claret and Hugh claims that a deal to sign the 29-year-old goalkeeper could be announced on Monday, or Tuesday at the latest.

That comes after fears that Newcastle could hijack the Hammers’ deal to sign the French stopper.

Getting a deal for Areola wrapped up by Monday will be hugely important for West Ham. David Moyes will then be free to pursue other targets with numerous additions still needed at the London Stadium.

The Hammers will be a much stronger team with Areola starting in the Premier League next season.

Areola was mightily impressive for West Ham when he played last season. He conceded just 15 goals in 18 appearances for the Hammers and kept eight clean sheets in the process (Transfermarkt).

Lukasz Fabianski has been a great servant for the Hammers over the past four years but there were definite signs of deterioration last season.

The 37-year-old’s distribution is fairly poor as well so Areola’s presence and ability on the ball should make us far better at resisting the press.

And West Ham agreeing a deal to sign Areola is truly brilliant news for everyone connected with the club.
