West Ham and Rangers fans will be on red alert after UEFA put Europa League final tickets on sale this evening.

West Ham and Rangers are flying the flag for England and Scotland in the Europa League this season.

Having cruised through the group stages, David Moyes’s Hammers have beaten favourites and six-time winners Sevilla and now Lyon to set up a semi-final clash with German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Rangers have been hugely impressive on their way to the semi-final on the other side of the draw. And Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side will play against another German side in the shape of RB Leipzig.

The Gers have already seen off Borussia Dortmund, Red Star Belgrade and Braga in the knockout stages.

The Europa League semi-finals set up a potentially mouthwatering battle of Britain between West Ham and Rangers should the clubs make it to Seville.

The 60,000 tickets for West Ham’s semi-final first leg against Frankfurt at the London Stadium next Thursday night have been hoovered up in record time.

And the same will be the case for Rangers at Ibrox after tickets went on sale today.

But West Ham and Rangers will be on red alert after UEFA put Europa League final tickets on sale this evening.

West Ham and Rangers on red alert as UEFA put EL final tickets on sale

In a media release on its official website, UEFA has announced that tickets for the final in Seville on May 18th are exclusively on sale on UEFA.com from €40 (£33).

Anyone can buy the tickets and as many as four per person. But UEFA will be using a ballot system to allocate them.

“For the sales process on UEFA.com, tickets will not be sold on a first come, first served basis,” UEFA has announced.

“Instead, a ballot will be conducted to allocate the tickets once the application period has ended.”

West Ham and Rangers fans will be interested to read that a total of 33,000 tickets out of the 40,000 stadium capacity are available for fans and the general public to purchase.

Should Rangers and/or West Ham make the final, the two clubs will receive 10,000 tickets each, while 13,000 tickets are being offered for sale to fans worldwide via UEFA.com.

A total of 8,000 tickets have been reserved by UEFA for fans of the two finalists to be given away for free to reward the lifeblood of the game for their loyal support during the pandemic – as previously reported by Hammers News.

Rangers and West Ham supporters will understandably be baffled by the fact that any fan of any club – or indeed even non football fans – can get tickets to what would be one of the biggest matches in their respective histories.

But this is UEFA we are talking about. So perhaps we should not be overly surprised.

No doubt those Rangers and West Ham fans who can afford to stake the money will be entering the ballot just in case their beloved team makes it to the Europa League finale.
