Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona target Wilfried Zaha drops hint on Crystal Palace future

Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, and Chelsea have been linked with a transfer move for Wilfried Zaha, with the player in the final six months of his contract at Crystal Palace.

The 30-year-old has been one of the Eagles’ greatest players in modern history and despite a failed transfer to Manchester United early on in his career, has stayed loyal to the Selhurst Park outfit.

So much so that some believe the time has passed for the English winger to secure a top move elsewhere to a ‘big six’ club. His future was the topic of discussion on Sky Sports’ Good Morning Transfers panel, where one of the members said (h/t Express):

“I actually think the big move is gone. The chance was there when he was linked to Arsenal and a few other clubs. I felt as though that was his time to go, when he was at the peak of his powers.

Now, if he’s thinking, ‘Can I go to Arsenal, City, Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Spurs… all these sides have wingers or players that they trust. I think the move has actually gone, and in the end he may actually end up having to stay at Palace.”

Zaha didn’t take kindly to this idea and responded by saying in a now-deleted tweet:

“I actually don’t know what’s funner, that jumper or the nonsense coming out his mouth.”

Most would argue that the man in the photo isn’t really wearing a jumper, but that’s not the point. Zaha is a versatile forward who can play anywhere across the frontline.

There is nothing to show that the 30-year-old is declining and with his performances for Palace every season, there is still reason to believe that he has a few good years still left in him. This is a player with 294 Premier League games to his name.

He may not be a pinned starter at a ‘big six’ club but any club would be lucky to have a player of his quality, versatility, and experience. Spurs should be looking to make a move here. He could strengthen multiple positions at once in our frontline.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Chelsea are of course worthy contenders considering their need to strengthen up front, and so are Barcelona, who have made it a habit to conduct free transfers every now and then. These two clubs can use their clout to sign him but Tottenham have to ensure they do their very best to sign Zaha if he’s available on a cut-price deal this month or on a potential free transfer in the summer.
