Sunderland manager, Tony Mowbray, has heaped the praise on Amad after his best performance for the club while on loan.

Manchester United’s squad is so jam-packed with quality, that several players have had to depart on loan in order to get their minutes. One player who falls into that bracket is young winger, Amad.

The man who cost United close to £40m hasn’t really made an impact of note thus far, with this loan move designed to give the Ivory Coast international the opportunity to paly regular football.

Amad is working with Tony Mowbray at Sunderland right now, with the side sitting comfortably in mid-table in the Championship.

So far, the 20-year-old winger has drifted in and out of the side. However, Amad played a half this weekend, with Mowbray stating that the United loanee put in his ‘best’ performance of the season so far. The gaffer also went on to say that Amad is a ‘wonderful footballer’, who has the world at his feet.

Check out what Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray had to say on Amad in full here:

“I think that’s the best we’ve seen of him.” Mowbray told the media, with ManUtd.com relaying the quotes.

“Listen, he’s got flashes, he’s a wonderful, wonderful footballer. On the training ground, he’s so sharp, quick and clever with the ball – he just has to add the end product, for me.

“Every day I’m in his ear, so he knows, but the work ethic was good today, and the physicality he brought to the job was good and I was pleased for him.”

This is a weird situation. There’s no doubt that Amad has plenty of talent and ability. However, there seems to be small question marks about the work ethic and the overall attitude. Without putting in that effort, it’s nigh-on impossible to make it right the way to the top in this sport.

Again, this is another reason why a loan move is so good. Amad obviously has his sights playing at a higher level, but this move gives him the chance to play regularly and prove his worth (and attitude).

Slowly but surely, Amad is seeing his minutes increase for Sunderland. Let’s hope he’s starting matches week-in-week-out soon as that’s exactly what the loan system is designed for.
