Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray has labelled Amad as ‘amazing’ after his latest performance.
Amad played a key role as Sunderland earned a point with a 1-1 draw against Luton Town.
The Manchester United loanee was singled out for praise by Mowbray after the game.
He said (via Manchester Evening News), “Amad was amazing today – amazing.
“Not just the saves he drew from their’ keeper, but his intensity and aggression to win the ball back.
“I trusted him in central midfield at the end there, which says everything. Really impressive and that’s what he has to do.”
He started the game as a centre-forward but was quickly shifted to the right flank.
However, he finished the game in the midfield three and the manager was delighted with the intensity and aggression he brought.
In 10 appearances for the Black Cats in the Championship, Amad has scored just a solitary goal.
At the age of 20, Amad is still learning his trade.
He will spend this season at the Stadium of Light to get more game time under his belt.
The Red Devils signed the youngster for more than £35 million. He is someone the club’s hierarchy is counting on for the future.
He is an intelligent dribbler of the ball but needs to enhance his decision-making to play football at the highest level.
Sunderland has a rich history of developing players. They will give a robust platform to the Ivorian to shine and fulfil his potential.
Amad has to leverage this loan spell and force Erik ten Hag to include him in his first-team plans.
