Rangers treatment puts Premier League to shame over West Ham arrangements ahead of the huge Europa League semi-finals.

West Ham and Rangers are flying the flags for England and Scotland in the Europa League this season.

Having cruised through the group stages, the Hammers have beaten favourites and six-time winners Sevilla and now Lyon to set up a semi-final clash with German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Best XI Already NOT Going To The 2022 World Cup

Rangers meanwhile have impressed on their way to the semi-final on the other side of the draw and will play against another German side in the shape of RB Leipzig.

The Gers have already seen off Borussia Dortmund, Red Star Belgrade and Braga in the knockout stages.

As Britain takes on Germany in the Europa League semi-finals, a mouthwatering battle of Britain looms should West Ham and Rangers make it to Seville.

Both West Ham and Rangers have plenty to play for domestically too, though.

The Ibrox club trail bitter rivals Celtic by six points in the title race with an Old Firm six-pointer amongst their final five games.

West Ham meanwhile are desperate to seal another top six finish to guarantee Europa League football again next season.

It is tough to compete on both fronts for either club.

But the Rangers treatment from the Scottish Premiership puts the Premier League to shame over West Ham’s arrangements ahead of their huge Europa League semi-finals.

Rangers’ Scottish Premiership match away to Motherwell has been moved forward 24 hours to give the Ibrox side more time to prepare for their Europa League semi-final against RB Leipzig (Sky Sports).

The teams will now meet at Fir Park on Saturday at midday, instead of the original kick-off time arranged for Sunday.

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst had asked for the game to be rescheduled to give his side an extra day to prepare for the first leg of their semi-final with RB Leipzig in Germany on April 28.

And the request has been readily granted by the SPFL with the agreement of rival clubs with the bigger picture of the betterment of Scottish football taken into consideration.

That puts the Premier League to shame over their West Ham arrangements.

The Premier League is infamous among supporters for putting fans and “the other 14” a distant second to everyone and everything else.

So it will come as no surprise that no such considerations have been made for the Hammers.

Instead their huge London derby with Chelsea was recently moved BACK a day to Sunday afternoon for TV.

With Chelsea no longer in Europe, the game could easily be played on Saturday giving Chelsea three days break after Wednesday night’s rearranged clash against Arsenal.

That’s more of a break than West Ham – and indeed Chelsea themselves – have had on a number of occasions this season.

But alas, yet again common sense does not prevail.

Credit where it is due to the SPFL.

As for the Premier League, it says everything that we are no longer surprised by the myopic outlook of the “best league in the world”.

Fans will cite it as yet more proof of the “Big Six” bias they feel has been obvious for many years.
