David Moyes must play Ben Johnson in a different position, if he has to start him for West Ham United vs Liverpool tomorrow night.
The Hammers head to Anfield to take on Liverpool tomorrow night in what is a huge game for both sides.
And if West Ham are to have any chance whatsoever of beating Liverpool, each and every player who Moyes selects will have to be 100% on their games.
If Moyes’s men turn up and have a go, we will have a chance of beating the Reds. However, if we sit back, defend and invite pressure on ourselves, there will be only one outcome.
Moyes has some selection dilemmas lying ahead tomorrow, most of them revolving around his defence…
Moyes must play Ben Johnson in a different position if he starts him for West Ham vs Liverpool
The 22-year-old played as a centre-back against Southampton on Sunday and in truth, he just wasn’t very good.
Now, much will depend on what central defenders Moyes has available to him tomorrow night.
Hopefully one of them will be back tomorrow night, and if they are, Johnson can then move to left-back.
Every time I’ve seen the 22-year-old play, he has impressed me when playing in the left-back role. It hasn’t been the same story when he’s played at right-back or centre-back though.
He was an absolute liability during our clash with Southampton, especially during the first 20 minutes, and Che Adams absolutely bullied him.
There is the option of playing Declan Rice at centre-back, but that is something that just shouldn’t even be considered by Moyes. Dec is so important to us in the middle of the park.
Should Zouma, Dawson and Ogbonna all be forced to miss out against Liverpool, I would actually prefer Aaron Cresswell to slot in at centre-half alongside Thilo Kehrer, with Johnson moved out to left-back.
Whatever happens, it will be a difficult game at Anfield tomorrow night.
And if West Ham manage to get any kind of positive result vs Liverpool, it would be a huge boost. In order to do that though, Moyes cannot play Ben Johnson in central defence again.
