Erik ten Hag’s Man United are firmly in the race to sign Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.

Manchester United Football Club would undoubtedly head in a different direction under Erik ten Hag.

It’ll take time for the Dutchman to get all the pieces required to turn our fortunes around. However, we have to make a major dent in the overhaul during this summer transfer window.

Several faces will be leaving on free transfers while others will be sold. Those bodies have to be replaced with genuine quality. More than that, they have to fit within Ten Hag’s system.

One name that is constantly being linked with a potential United switch is Christopher Nkunku.

Now, But! Football Club, with the translation coming from Sport Witness, have another update for us in the brewing saga.

The media outlet say United are one of the sides in the picture to sign the 24-year-old this summer, with PSG and Juventus also considering making a move to bring in Nkunku.

Currently plying his trade for RB Leipzig, Nkunku can play in midfield, or a little further up the pitch if needed. His versatility could be another major selling point for any potential buyer.

With that in mind, ‘big offers are expected in the coming weeks’ for the midfielder, though the Bundesliga club are hopeful they can retain his services for another season.

The report adds that Nkunku’s asking price cannot be set at less than a huge €100m (£84m), though that price could change in 2023.

Leipzig, understandably, want to tie one of their key stars down to a new long-term deal, though somehow I think that’ll be hard to achieve given the spotlight on Nkunku.

There’s no doubt the Frenchman would be a huge addition to the United squad if the Reds could somehow pull this off. However, I firmly believe it’ll be tough to persuade the player to come here – particularly with no Champions League football on offer.

Would a Man United move for Christopher Nkunku make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
