Man United and Ten Hag sweating on fitness of key duo for Arsenal game – Old Trafford Faithful

Man United are waiting on the fitness of both Diogo Dalot and Anthony Martial ahead of the Arsenal game.

Manchester United Football Club dropped two points late on last time out, with the Red Devils now looking to bounce back against Arsenal this weekend.

The Old Trafford club are the only side to beat Arsenal so far this term, with United looking to repeat the feat this coming Sunday. Sure, it’s a mighty ask, particularly without Casemiro, who is missing through suspension.

A victory here would confirm to everyone that United are indeed on their way back, while a loss would probably have Erik ten Hag’s side back in a serious fight to finish inside the top four, rather than thinking about a title challenge.

Well, United may have to do this without another key duo, with Ten Hag sweating on the fitness of both Diogo Dalot and Anthony Martial. Both players missed the midweek game with problems.

When asked directly about the availability of Dalot and Martial, Ten Hag responded:

“No, sorry. It’s Wednesday (the time of the presser). We’ll have to see how far they are, if they are fit for the game on Sunday.” Ten Hag told club media.

It seems like it’ll be tough and go for both of them. Dalot, in particular, whose problem feels a little more serious than Martial’s.

The good news? Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been playing out of his skin since coming back into the line-up. That last-ditch tackle he made on Wilfried Zaha in the game on Wednesday was truly sublime. I suspect he’d be just as busy on Sunday if the Englishman is given the start.

As for Martial, he continues to flatter to deceive. The Frenchman has all the talent and ability in the world. Sadly, he’s just not showing that with any consistency. The only thing he’s done well since the World Cup is holding the ball up and bringing others into play. If you’re playing up front for a top side, you need to deliver more than that.

In Martial’s absence, Wout Weghorst could lead the line again. Though as things stand, I reckon the Frenchman could feature in some capacity…
