Man United’s FA Youth Cup-winning midfielder, Kobbie Mainoo, has signed his first pro terms with the club.
Manchester United’s rich history is based upon youth. From Sir Matt Busby to Sir Alex Ferguson, this club has always enjoyed success when giving teenagers an opportunity.
Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Red Devils moved back into their comfort zone in that aspect. United spent cash on several emerging talents, all of whom have been roaring successes in both the u23 and u18s sides.
If you watched the FA Youth Cup final, you’ll know all about Kobbie Mainoo. The midfielder has a stellar game against Nottingham Forest, controlling the central area single-handedly at times.
Now, the 17-year-old United starlet has been pictured all-smiles as he signs his first pro terms with the Old Trafford club. The story comes from the Manchester Evening News.
Check out the photo of Mainoo, all-smiles here:
Born in Stockport, Mainoo has enjoyed a brilliant individual season, really making a name for himself at U18 level as his personal stock continues to grow.
The fact that he’s now agreed to professional terms means that United have genuine belief this young man can go right the way to the top in this game. The fact that he’s signed also allows the player to focus firmly on harnessing and developing his talents as a footballer – without worrying about where his long-term future lies.
For me, Mainoo was the surprise standout during that FA Youth Cup final. He was absolutely sensational on both sides of the ball and I genuinely hope he’s involved on our pre-season tour during the summer. That’s just how highly-rated he is.
With United set to lose a couple of midfielders this summer, there’s every chance Mainoo is fast-tracked up to the senior squad in the not too distant future, following in the footsteps of Alejandro Garnacho…
