Making his 300th Premier League appearance for Tottenham Hotspur, Harry Kane made sure it was an evening to remember for Spurs in a big four-goal win over Crystal Palace.

Winless since the League restarted following the World Cup, Tottenham Hotspur needed three points in a bad way on Wednesday. Fortunately for Spurs supporters, Harry Kane came with his A-game and led Tottenham to a huge second half and a comfortable four-goal victory.

Tottenham was up and down in the first half

With an air of desperation around the club, Tottenham Hotspur came out with a much better purpose against Palace. Spurs were on the front foot for most of the first 20 minutes; alas, the best Tottenham could do was a Kane header that was well wide of the target.

Like many games of late for Tottenham, following Spurs’ brief ascendancy, Palace settled in and seemed to take control of the match. Thankfully, skipper Hugo Lloris was up to the task making one critical save against Jordan Ayew, denying the Ghanian with a strong right palm and quickly scooping the rebound. Had Ayew beaten Lloris, who knows how the game would have gone after falling behind again and again? Thus, going in level at half-time was a positive step for Tottenham Hotspur. Of course, Spurs were level with Aston Villa this past weekend at the half, only to capitulate in the second half and lose 0-2 at home. This time out, our talisman made sure things went our way.

Kane incredible in second half slaying of Crystal Palace

Palace seemed to be in control going into the break and started the second period well with two corners almost immediately. Then a quick counter for Tottenham, involving all three forwards and Ivan Perisic, led to the opening goal and the dam breaking for the Eagles.

The ball went up the middle to Heung-min Son, who turned and played the ball forward to Bryan Gil – starting his second straight match with Dejan Kulusevski still out. Gil took a dribble forward and then pushed the ball wide to Perisic, who hung a cross up to the back post, where Kane squared up and headed home.

The goal was a welcome relief for Spurs, and suddenly positive things were going on everywhere.

About five minutes after scoring the opener, Kane played a nice give-and-go with Gil and took one touch before slotting home at the far post. It was a real strikers goal, as Kane flashed for Gil and had a pin-point perfect shot to the far post giving Spurs the 2-0 lead. It was Kane’s 198 EPL goal and 264th for Spurs, only two shy of Jimmy Greaves’ club record.

Kane was not done from there, nor were Spurs, who continued to push for opportunities. Kane had played in Son, who got held up in the box but found Matt Doherty, who did his best Kane impersonation stroking home to the far post.

Tottenham was not done with Kane and Son finally connecting again in the superstar’s favor. Gil and Kane were playing hold-up in the middle of the field as Son ran forward, and Kane found him. Son finished with his left foot for Spurs’ fourth, and the game was a full-blown rout.

Hugo Lloris did have to make a couple more saves to preserve the clean sheet, but the day belonged to Kane and the Tottenham attack, which came back to life in a big way on Kane’s big day.
