Before everyone gets too excited about the rumour that Tanguy Ndombele is going to Galatasary, there is still a significant obstacle to overcome before the midfielder leaves Tottenham Hotspur.
Perhaps even before Antonio Conte arrived at Tottenham, the writing was on the wall for Ndombele. After a huge transfer back in the summer of 2019 and a splendid goal on his debut, Ndombele failed to perform to the level expected consistently.
As a result of his inconsistent performance, he has fallen out with every manager at Spurs and was loaned back to Lyon from whence he came this past Spring.
After failing to impress Lyon, who declined his option, Ndombele is again Fabio Paratici’s problem, as the Frenchman is not part of Conte’s plan at N17. Ndombele is one of several players that Paratici needs to find a new home for, as he and Conte continue to remake the squad.
With this report emerging that Spurs and Turkish giants Galatasary may have struck a deal, Ndombele could be the second chip to fall with Cameron Carter-Vickers moving on earlier his summer. However, one big obstacle remains before the midfielder can move on.
A possible stumbling block in the Tottenham transfer of Tanguy to Turkey
If you go to the report from takvim.com.tr, you can find a few things of interest. The first is that the report indicates that Tottenham agrees to accept a “lease offer with option to buy.” However, the article also said that Ndombele has yet to sign off on the deal, as “negotiations with the French star continue.”
Several times in January, it looked like Tanguy was going to be leaving N17, only to veto the move, until he eventually ended up back at Lyon.
Ultimately, an outright sale of the player is what Spurs are looking for, but if a loan with an option to buy is the only choice, at least he is someone else’s headache to manage. While Galatasary may be Ndombele’s destination, and it is terrific that Tottenham and Galatasary have an agreement, it is unlikely to happen if Ndombele does not agree to the move.
