London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea are both in the mix for Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus this summer, but reports suggest Chelsea could look to sign RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku as an alternative.

Fabrizio Romano reports that he’s aware of speculation that Arsenal could also pursue that deal if they missed out on Jesus. But it’s certainly not an easy one to complete.

Leipzig are determined not to sell, and the price is set to exceed €100m. The Bundesliga club could even offer the player a new contract this summer.

So whilst it seems like Nkunku is on the shortlist for Arsenal and Chelsea, it doesn’t look like a probable deal for either club right now. Even if he does move, he’s more likely to end up at Stamford Bridge.

Reports in May suggested Nkunku had decided that he wants to leave RB Leipzig. He reportedly believes it’s the right time to move on from the Bundesliga, and his teammates are aware of his desire to leave.

But even back then, the same sources wrote that RB Leipzig absolutely do not want to sell.

The 24-year-old has a contract until 2024, and he’s a vital member of the Leipzig team. He scored 35 goals and assisted 17 this season, despite not always playing up front.

Arsenal have been repeatedly linked with Nkunku in the past, but he’s more in demand than ever right now.
