Amad Diallo has been named Sunderland Player of the Month for December.
Manchester United’s squad is so deep that some players have had to leave on loan to play their football and get their minutes. That’s just the nature of the sport at the highest level.
One man who Erik ten Hag couldn’t guarantee playing time for is Amad Diallo. The young attacker, who is obviously talented, wasn’t being afforded the opportunity to start for United. Hence, he had to depart for the season.
The Ivory Coast international headed off to Sunderland in the Championship. Although the flying winger would start slowly, momentum began to build and the former Atalanta man started to play with genuine conviction.
He’s now looking like arguably Sunderland’s best player during their bid to finish in the playoff places. All he needed was that consistency of starting matches every single week.
For his performances, the United loanee has been named December Player of the Month. As you can see below, he was all-smiles with his award, that he richly deserved.

Goals, assists, a genuine threat. Amad is showcasing everything good about his skillset, in a competitive Championship division.
These are the sort of loan moves that can genuinely go either way. It’s all about displaying the right attitude and ensuring you take the chance with both hands. United’s young man has done that.
Don’t forget that Amad has a huge price tag. There’s serious pressure on him to succeed here at the Theatre of Dreams. Although his start to life in Manchester was pretty slow, we’re now starting to see exactly what he’s capable of.
Nice work, Amad!
