Man United fans may not get to see Alejandro Garnacho against Crystal Palace this weekend.

We’re now approaching Manchester United’s final game of the campaign. For many of us, that’s a blessing.

This Red Devils squad has rapidly become unlikable. The players have all-but given up, with many already on holiday and looking to put this season in the rearview mirror.

For us here at Old Trafford Faithful, it has been our young starlets at U23 and U18 level leading the way. None more so than Alejandro Garnacho, who helped the youth side win the FA Youth Cup while also earning a full Argentina call-up back in March.

The anticipation about seeing Garnacho in action against Palace was growing. We also believe now is the time to give the attacker his full debut.

Sadly, that will not be happening. Garnacho and United have been dealt an injury blow, with the starlet doubtful to take on Crystal Palace with illness. Sadly, the wonderkid is unlikely to make his full debut, though we may see him off the substitute’s bench.

Check out what the gaffer had to say on Garnacho’s fitness here:

“Unfortunately, Alejandro was ill in the last couple of days,” Rangnick told the media, including ManUtd.com. “He was training with us until midweek last week but then he had to drop out because he was ill and I think today was the first training session that he was back again.

“He might well be in the squad but I’m not sure if he’s physically, after this illness, capable and fit enough to play.”

This is pretty gutting, I can’t lie. The young lads are setting the example right now and I genuinely thought we’d see Garnacho from the off in this one. Now that has been taken away from us, there’s very little interest in this game from me.

The Old Trafford club have nothing to play for, nor do Crystal Palace. Pride is all that’s at stake and as our lads have shown, they’re not really too bothered about that…

I guess the best thing about Sunday’s game is the fact that it’s our last of the season and we can start to forget about what a horrible campaign it has been, while fully focusing on the future.

The Erik ten Hag era is about to get underway and I’m supremely excited to see how we’ll fare under the Dutchman. Perhaps Garnacho will shine on pre-season tour and force his way into the first team for good…

Do you think Alejandro Garnacho has a genuine chance at playing regularly for the first team next season? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
